Thought that I should do a "What is in my makeup bag" entry as I am currently brand-free! What I really mean is that - I have officially ended my contract with Shiseido Majolica Majorca as of 2013, and I am currently NOT under any cosmetic brand. So, yay to freedom of speech! Not that I did not enjoy my time with MJ, in fact I was actually pretty much immersed in the branding, after being a contracted blogger for 5 long years (since I was 17 mind you) It is seriously crazy. Being scouted by Shiseido at 17 was a huge thing for me, and they have been my official sponsor throughout my time in blogging. Okay enough about the nostalgic throwback.
Without further ado, lets get started on the products you will find in my makeup pouch!
Call me a late-bloomer but I JUST realized how awesome primer is. This product has been in my closet for a really long time and I found out that it can be used as a primer as well. Thank you... random youtube makeup guru. The Pore-fessional primes my skin and allows my concealer to glide on like a dream. Loving it. However, the downside of this product is that its actually pretty pricey (at least to me) and I can't bear to actually.. use it that much? So, do let me know if you have a cheaper option. I will be eternally grateful <3
After using countless concealers across various brands, I think I've finally found the perfect concealer that is easy on my wallet. The mineral concealer from Maybelline is perfect for concealing my dark circles as I tend to sleep at 3-5am everyday and I practically look like a zombie without the concealer. Been obsessed with reading I stole this baby from my other half since the color doesn't match anymore. Hey loving is sharing right?
Powder is a huge essential in a makeup pouch, and its of utmost importance to invest in one that compliments your skin tone and allows it to breathe. I have been using Chanel's Mat Lumiere for many years since I started using makeup at 17. However, I decided to gravitate towards a distinctively affordable option -such as one from Majolica Majorca. The Chanel Mat Lumiere cost about 80bucks, which is insane for a poor student like myself. The Majolica Majorca compact power is decent for the girl-on-the-go, giving a matte and dewy finish to my skin after application. After years of experimentation, I realized that using a powder brush instead of a sponge allows the product to be sheer and natural. I usually swirl a powder brush on my compact powder to get light coverage all over my face, and dust some highlighter powder on my cheekbones and nose bridge to create sharper features.
Eyeliner + Eyebrow Pencil // Sephora stocks a huge array of brands and you will find yourself spoilt for choice if you ever venture there for beauty products.I was recommended an eyeliner from Smashbox that works wonders on me as my eyes are slightly teary. I've realized that most eyeliners are not smudge-proof (even though they claim to be) I like how this eyeliner dries almost immediately. Eyebrow pencils are not exactly needed in my case, since I did eyebrow embroidery sometime last year. Those who are wondering what it feels like.. It felt like a tattoo. Not kidding. The eyebrow pencils from Majolica Majorca are pretty decent, I like how the ends are interchangeable (pretty cool)
False Lashes // Having sparse eyelashes is no fun. Who cares if mine are naturally curled? No one can see them anyway. Le sigh. I like to go for false lashes as they are a breeze to apply (seriously, I am just too lazy for mascara) The false lashes that I use come in a box of 10 and can be bought at stores in bugis village for approx 12bucks/box. I like how light and soft they are.. plus no one can tell that I am wearing falsies as they are so natural.
Thats all I have in le makeup pouch. Till next time folks xx
