When I first heard about Bangkok, I was bombarded with information about the various popular shopping districts. However, I was pleasantly surprised that the vibrant city is much more than that. It far exceeds the touristy facade, it is more than the colorful glossy pictures of Chatuchak shown in city tour brochures. We visited food stalls tucked in quiet alleys, the ones that foreigners would avoid. We had supper at a mosquito-infested roadside stall 3 days consecutively because the owner was such a hospitable old chap (and the soupy noodles were extremely comforting at 3am) We exchanged hilarious conversations with taxi drivers who could not understand a word of English, and got lost countless times trying to locate prominent landmarks. There is a certain indescribable charm about this bustling city, one that has attracted many foreigners to its busy flamboyant streets. It is quiet, unspoken but undeniably alluring. Till we meet again, Bangkok.
