BANGKOK MADNESS

Romper/suit: YoungHungryFree

Bangkok was finally made possible - all thanks to the boy, who suggested going on a getaway as a birthday treat. Loving the outfits sponsored by YoungHungryFree (originally known as iscrewedyourboyfriend) for this short getaway! The romper got me through an entire day of exploring sweltering hot Bangkok. Thank God for the super lightweight material despite the structured semi-formal design. Grab it before it goes out-of-stock!

The second day in Bangkok was spent feasting on street food and sight-seeing (or rather walking around aimlessly and stumbling upon thrift stores) Oh, and we made some new friends from Macau and Taiwan along the way to Maeklong railway market -which I thought was pretty cool. I'm so glad we decided to travel down to Maeklong as it was helleva experience. Its beyond amazing how the railway market was packed up within a few minutes before the train arrived. We managed to catch a glimpse of fireflies on a boat tour at Amphawa floating market, which cost us about 390 baht for 4 pax. More pictures soon!

Maeklong Railway Market

Time-
Trains run through the Maeklong Railway Market 7 times a day, 7 days a week
8.40am arrival and 9am departure // 11.20am arrival and 11.30am departure
The train also runs through Maeklong Railway Market 3-4 times in the afternoon.

How to get there-
Find your way to Victory Monument BTS station and follow signs to Century Mall. Look for a small alley between the mall and the Siam International building. There is a mini-van station under the elevated walkway, which is approximately 10 mins walk from the Victory Monument station.

Bus journey-
Approximately 90 minutes

Transportation fees-
The mini vans should cost about 70-80 baht per pax

The Maeklong Railway Market is approximately 5 minutes away from the usual drop off point. Ask the locals about how to get to the Maeklong Railway Market, the shop assistants there should get that question alot and will know how to direct you there. We were kinda lucky to meet some tourists who were equally clueless (we had a good chat along the way and found the railway market eventually)

Amphawa Floating Market

Time-
12pm to 8pm (last bus back to the city)

How to get there-
There are vans and tuktuks that can give you a lift to the Amphawa Floating Market. We took a mini van which cost us 25baht each and found out from other tourists that they took a tuktuk instead (which cost them 20 baht each) If you ever get lost, keep asking the locals about how to get to Amphawa floating market. The floating market is relatively near to the railway station but its not advisable to walk there if you aren't familiar with the area.

Transportation fees-
20-25 Baht for a mini van or tuktuk

Fireflies-
Honestly, the fireflies boat trip was pretty lame until the last 10 minutes when we actually saw a whole bush infested with glowing fireflies. The trip lasted for about 90 minutes and it is really not advisable to get the 6.20pm boat trip tickets as you might actually miss the last bus back to the city (at 8pm)

Return bus ticket to the city-
There will be a booth on the left side of the road when you reach the drop off point near to the Amphawa floating market. Ask the locals where to get your bus tickets back to the city. Get your return tickets there before leaving the drop-off point as you wouldn't want to be stuck there without a lift back to the city. Note that the last bus would be at 8pm.

Bus journey back to the city-
Approximately 90 minutes
