Loreal Mat Magique

The Gushcloud girls and I were invited to attend a Loreal event recently and I was really excited about since its about foundations - just in time to change mine! The kind ladies at Loreal prepared a light breakfast of Chinese dessert and hot ginger tea to have us all filled up and relaxed for a fun session ahead. So sweet of them <3

So back to the topic of foundations.... I have been using another brand of foundation for awhile now - which quite frankly, is extremely overpriced and doesn't really do its supposed job of keeping my face matte and shine-free.

Don't be fooled by my radiant and healthy-looking complexion. I struggle with an oily T-zone and dry cheeks, which is really frustrating especially when I attend full day events, which requires me to look good and camera ready all the time. This is even harder to achieve as we have to achieve it alongside a unforgivingly hot and humid climate.

I've listed down my key problem areas before and I will do it again in this entry to further emphasize why I really need a good foundation to keep my skin in check!
  1. Shiny T-zone complexion
  2. Enlarged pores on the tip of my nose
  3. Slight blemishes from abusing my skin all these years (guilty as charged)

What I (or most girls in general) do to combat these problems is to well... simply pat on heavier makeup to achieve the flawless look, excessive blotting throughout the day to remove oil and yes, frequent touchups every few hours. Unfortunately, all these "solutions" will actually do your skin more harm than good. Example, excessive blotting actually stripes skin from its natural layer of sebum, hence causing your skin to produce more and more sebum to combat it. This translates into the clogging of pores, which you will regret in years to come :/

Loreal challenged us to apply a thick layer of olive oil to simulate our oily faces on a crazy hot day in Singapore and blot it like how we usually do. I know, I kinda went cray on the oil application part haha check out the amount of oil absorbed by the blotter!

Time to put the Loreal Mat Magique to the test. We applied a layer of Loreal Mat Magique foundation over the same amount of oil, applying it like how we usually apply our foundation on a daily basis. We were taught by the Loreal Professionals that we should not apply more than 1/2 the sponge worth of foundation each time, as that is deemed too much for us.

Check that out gurlsssssss........ One swipe of foundation and the oil is absorbed instantly!

So you must be wondering what the hell is inside this amazing product riiiiight.... The Loreal Mat Magique us 12H shine free all thanks to its key ingredient, Volcanic Pearlite. The foundation has medium to high coverage, as seen from our tests earlier. Loreal Mat Magique is my new go-to for light touch ups on the go, no blotting required as my skin stays matte, feeling lightweight and shine free throughout the day!

Great news for you girls! Loreal is feeling super super generous and wants to show some love to you y'all <3
